Reports have revealed whether Kylian Mbappe is likely to play in the second leg of Real Madrid’s Champions League showdown with Benfica.
With the first match ending in a 1-0 win for the La Liga giants, the Spanish side could do with their goal-scoring machine to see the job home.
Kylian Mbappe is unlikely to play against Benfica
Kylian Mbappe has been playing since December with a knee injury that’s been taking a toll. Despite his resilience, the issue has caught up with him, with the gifted athlete now supposedly very unlikely to feature against Benfica.
On Tuesday, Mbappe took part in open training, but could not reach the end of the session due to severe pain in the injured area. Consequently, he went through tests, and according to, L’Equipe, will not be playing at the Bernabéu tomorrow night.
The news will serve as a huge blow for the 36X Spanish champions, as the 27-year-old has cemented his status as the team’s top scorer this campaign, hitting the back of the net on an impressive 38 occasions.
As per Diario AS, a final decision will be made on Wednesday, but the situation currently isn’t looking particularly positive. In addition, Mbappe is also likely to miss out when Real Madrid host Getafe in an eagerly-anticipated La Liga tie on Monday evening.
