WWE Star Kit Wilson Slams Jelly Roll Ahead Of Historic SmackDown Match

Kit Wilson and Grammy Award winner Jelly Roll will go one-on-one on WWE SmackDown in what is set to be a historic bout.

Historic because it marks Jelly Roll’s first ever singles bout in a WWE ring.

The three-time Grammy winner first stepped foot inside the squared circle in August of last year, when he tagged with Randy Orton to take on the team of Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul.

However, on that night in MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Jelly Roll had a 14-time World Champion tag team partner helping him out. Tonight he will be solo under the bright lights of the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

His opponent, Britain’s own Kit Wilson, a former NXT Tag Team Champion, has drawn the ire of the Nashville native in recent weeks. The pair have exchanged words across a couple of episodes of SmackDown, and even went back-and-forth with some slam poetry, last week.

Wilson, though, was unimpressed with Jelly’s efforts, subsequently laying out the 41-year-old and leaving him laying. Now, the pair are going to settle their dispute on the road to WrestleMania.

Ahead of Jelly Roll’s singles debut, tonight, Wilson had some harsh words for his famous opponent.

“Tonight, Jelly Roll goes into Friday Night SmackDown for his first ever singles match against Kit Wilson. When he is laying in bed tonight in pain, having been beaten up by a man that looks this good, he will feel thankful that he was there in the ring for a match that started the legendary career trajectory of Kit Wilson.”

Wilson has previously been one half of the tag team Pretty Deadly, with partner Elton Prince. However, since Prince suffered a severe neck injury which has required surgery, Wilson has been repackaged as a solo star on SmackDown.

Over the past couple of months, Wilson, complete with new theme music and a book full of questionable poetry, has aimed to eliminate ‘toxic masculinity’ from WWE. It has not necessarily gone all too well for him. He almost immediately incurred the wrath of former NXT Champion Oba Femi and is now on the wrong side of Jelly Roll.

Kit Wilson promises to leave Jelly Roll ‘Beautifully Broken’

Yet before his differences with Jelly Roll began, Wilson has admitted he was a fan of the country rapper. Now, though, hours before the pair’s bout on SmackDown, Wilson is only quoting Jelly’s lyrics to further berate him.

“I’m a music fan and I can’t help but admit that before this problem started with Jelly Roll I listened to a few of his songs. Maybe I can reference a few of his songs to understand what he’s going to feel tonight?

“Jelly, I’m a pretty guy. After this you’re going to feel yourself UNPRETTY. You might even feel BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN. Maybe there will be a moment in the middle of the match where you’ll be wanting to scream SAVE ME. At the end of the day, after I beat you, you can go home to your pal Post Malone and sing your song together that is appropriately titled LOSERS.

“Jelly, and I mean this earnestly, I want to thank you. I want to thank you for bringing all the attention to this moment. To tonight. To SmackDown. I appreciate you for giving me your time. I just know you will appreciate me for giving you the time of your life.”

With WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas only three weeks away, it will be interesting to see if tonight’s bout between Wilson and Jelly Roll will lead to something even bigger in Sin City, in April.

WWE SmackDown will be streamed live on Netflix in the UK, tonight, starting at midnight GMT.
