WWE star AJ Styles sparked concern amongst fans after he was seen bleeding from the side of his head during the entrance for his WrestleMania 38 match against Edge.
‘The Phenomenal One’ was gearing up for an adrenaline-fuelled battle against Edge. The pair had traded blows for weeks, with Edge reverting to his old heel persona.
It was one of the most highly-anticipated matches on the entire card. With two veterans going head-to-head, fans were looking forward to witnessing a classic.
However, what they were not banking on was for Styles to almost suffer disaster before the bell even rang.
When walking to the ring, fans spotted a cut on the side of the 44-year-old’s head, with visible bleeding.
Why was AJ Styles bleeding before his WrestleMania match?
Initially, there were conflicting reports about what caused the bleeding. Journalist Bryan Alvarez reported the story as being a “pyro incident” on Twitter.
However, WrestlingInc later posted a video that appeared to show Styles hitting his head on the stage as he made his entrance.
The WWE star can be seen standing close to the fireworks when they go off. However, there is no reaction from Styles to indicate that any injury had occurred as a direct result.
AJ Styles appears to suffer more WrestleMania injury woe
Styles recovered from the incident and subsequently put on a WrestleMania classic against Edge. However, fans spotted another possible injury concern during the match.
There are various claims that Styles actually suffered a shoulder dislocation. He was then seen popping it back in during the match.
As the fight grew to its conclusion, the 44-year-old set up for his trademark ‘Phenomenal Forearm’ move. However, he was distracted by Damian Priest. Edge hit a mid-air Spear for the win. It was a WrestleMania match to remember.
