Shearer even has one tale about Paul Gascoigne that was wilder than any other. But while, for the most part, his time in ‘the beautiful game’ was nothing short of sensational, there’s one element of his career that was always tough — playing against Arsenal’s finest.

During an exclusive interview with Sporf, when asked who the best defender he ever faced was, the 55-year-old replied: “Tony Adams, certainly in the Premier League.”
