Alphonso Davies’ rise continues with amazing solo goal for Canada

Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies continues to impress the masses with his goal for Canada last night being the latest sign of his star power and overall ability.

The 20-year-old has spent the last few years serving as the poster boy for what could prove to be a real golden generation for the national team in Canada. They’re already gearing up to host the 2026 World Cup alongside Mexico and the United States but prior to that, there’s a whole other WC taking place next year in Qatar.

They currently sit in one of the qualification spots behind their two co-hosts and the reason for that is because they were able to secure a vital 4-1 win over Panama on Wednesday. They initially fell behind after an early goal from the visitors but after a 28th-minute equaliser, the pair were locked at 1-1 until just after the hour mark.

The next big thing

Then, in a moment of real magic from the youngster, Davies beat two Panama defenders before cutting inside and slotting the ball past the keeper at the near post.

The confidence, composure and elegance that Davies showed once again proves why he’s such a valued commodity in the Great White North. Bayern themselves clearly value him incredibly highly and with Alphonso likely having at least a decade left at the elite level, it would appear as if there are no limits to what he can achieve.

Their international attention now turns to next month when they take on Costa Rica and Mexico in two huge fixtures for their qualification hopes.
