Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk: Eddie Hearn makes prediction

Eddie Hearn has said Anthony Joshua is in for a “draining” fight this weekend but still expects him to prove how good he is against Oleksandr Usyk.

The unbeaten Ukrainian is arguably the toughest test Joshua has faced to date and yet despite that, many are still confident that AJ will be the one who gets his hand raised at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The winner of this bout is likely to move on and face the winner of next month’s Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder trilogy showdown. Alas, while a lot of fans are opting to look ahead to the future, Eddie Hearn doesn’t want to get too far ahead of himself.

Will Joshua get the job done?

In a recent interview Hearn was quick to both praise Usyk and reassure Joshua’s supporters that he believes the Brit will put in a solid shift on Saturday night.

“I’m very nervous, which is great. I want to be nervous because I then know it’s a real fight.

“This is probably AJ’s toughest ever fight and I think he’s going to prove to the world how good he is. He’s ready for this fight but it’s the ultimate challenge with someone that’s very strong mentally.

“Mentally it will be draining [for Joshua] because he’s going to have to think a lot, there will be a lot of feints from both men and reactions are going to be key.

“I just can’t wait to watch it unfold, it’s a real, real high-end heavyweight fight. [Usyk is] going to be a tough, tough nut to crack. AJ’s got to break him down, beat him up and hopefully take him out.”
