Arsenal batter Brentford in behind closed doors match

They may have lost to them in their league opener, but Arsenal were able to gain a slight measure of revenge over Brentford yesterday.

The Gunners haven’t exactly made the best start to the new Premier League season and that’s no secret. Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City have all beaten them with Mikel Arteta’s men failing to score in all three outings. Right now they’re rooted to the bottom of the table and while the majority expect them to start pushing towards the top half, there are still plenty of questions to be asked regarding the future of the club.

The first step towards a revival?

Still, it’s always nice to get a bit of a morale boost, and that’s exactly what Arsenal enjoyed on Thursday as they ran out 4-0 winners over the Bees in a friendly at London Colney.

Ben White and Gabriel both featured in a three-man defensive setup with the Brazilian getting his name on the scoresheet alongside Alexandre Lacazette and Cedric Soares, the latter of whom managed to grab himself a brace.

The game was played behind closed doors with Arsenal only putting out a few remarks about it on social media which, given their recent direction of travel in the league, is probably the best idea.

The real test comes once the international break is over when Norwich City come to town in a fixture that could be huge for the future of Arteta as manager.
