Brooks Koepka is set to become the latest high-profile golfer to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour, according to reports – but what is his current net worth?
Koepka is unquestionably one of the golfing giants of the current generation. He is a four-time major winner. He has won back-to-back US Open titles in 2017 and 2018, and two back-to-back PGA Championships, in 2018 and 2019.
Although he has struggled with various injuries in recent years, the American still possesses a golf game that is amongst the very best. He recorded three top-10 finishes in the four majors last year, including a tie for second at the PGA Championship.
The 32-year-old spent 47 weeks at world number one between 2017 and 2018. He is now set to join the likes of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and his adversary, Bryson DeChambeau, on the LIV Golf tour.
Koepka was asked about whether he would join the tour before the last week’s US Open at Brookline, where he missed the cut. He gave a somewhat cryptic response (quotes via The Athletic):
“I wasn’t playing last week. I’m here. I’m here at the US Open, I’m ready to play US Open.
“And I think it kind of sucks, too, you are all throwing this black cloud over the US Open. It’s one of my favourite events. I don’t know why you guys keep doing that.
“The more legs you give it, the more you keep talking about it.”
Koepka’s seemingly imminent announcement that he will move to LIV Golf – and therefore, in line with other PGA Tour members, be banned from PGA Tour events – will undoubtedly get people talking.
And with the masses of prize money on offer in the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour, and Koepka’s talent, you would expect the four-time major winner to earn a lot of money.
What is the net worth of Brooks Koepka?
According to the official PGA Tour career money list, Brooks Koepka has earned a total of $37.9 million on tour. He sits in 24th place on the list, ahead of the likes of Luke Donald, Jon Rahm and Henrik Stenson.
Celebrity Net Worth, meanwhile, claim that the golf icon has a net worth of $18 million.
Koepka earned $2.16 million by winning the 2017 US Open. He took home the same figure for his win a year later.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old received $1.98 million for winning the PGA Championship in 2018, and the same amount again in 2019.
In terms of yearly earnings, his highest amount of prize money came in the 2018/19 season, when he took home an eye-watering amount of over $9.6 million, according to Spotrac.
However, the money he could potentially earn in LIV Golf blows these sums into the water. The Telegraph report that he will likely make an upfront fee similar to the $150 million received by Dustin Johnson for signing up.
