Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has announced his retirement from management after his current stint at the club ends.
Ancelotti is one of the most successful managers in football history. He has won 24 titles. Earlier this year, he became the first manager to win domestic titles in the five major European leagues.
The Italian is heading into his second season at Real, having won La Liga and the Champions League last term. He now does so, however, having confirmed that the Los Blancos job will be his last in football.
Carlo Ancelotti is now 63 years old and, having managed or coached various international and club sides over 30 years, is now looking to the future – and retirement.
He told Il Messaggero (as per Mundo Deportivo/Mirko Calemme): “This stage in Madrid will close my career. After here, I will retire. Real Madrid is the top of football. It makes sense to put the word end after this experience.
“24 titles in my career? The truth is that I don’t care about these accounts. I will do them at the end, when a balance makes more sense. Now, I’m focused on training. I like my daily work.”
