Chelsea fans have their say as they prepare for Eden Hazard’s return

Chelsea fans have given their thoughts on facing Eden Hazard and Real Madrid in tonight’s Champions League semi-final first leg.

The 30-year-old Belgian spent seven years at Stamford Bridge and in that time, he was able to firmly establish himself as one of the best players in world football. Alas, ever since he made the move to the Bernabeu in 2019, he hasn’t quite been able to replicate that.

Eden Hazard – return of the former king

From injuries to a general drop off in form, Madrid fans haven’t been able to see Hazard at his best. However, there would be no better time to fully announce himself to the Spanish audience than against his former club Chelsea in the semi-finals of the UCL.

As we continue the countdown to kickoff this evening, Chelsea supporters have had different emotions heading into the game.

“Don’t get me wrong I’ll be very happy to see Eden Hazard back at Stamford Bridge but I want to see him going back home in tears after getting trashed” is a particularly harsh example but at the end of the day, most Blues fans will have mixed feelings on this whole situation.

They’re upset that he’s no longer part of the furniture at CFC but in equal measure, they would’ve liked to be in attendance to give him a nice reception.

Tonight’s game goes down in Madrid but the real emotion will come next week when Hazard and Real travel to Stamford Bridge for the second leg.

At that point, it’ll be intriguing to see whether Hazard lets the occasion get to him or if he’s able to rise above it.

The winner of this tie over the two legs will go on to play either Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City in the final, but whatever happens, it feels as if Eden is going to play a big role in how this story ends.
