Classic Elimination Chamber: Edge loses and wins world title on the same night

The Elimination Chamber is back in business on Saturday – and WWE fans are certainly excited.

This year’s PPV takes place in Saudi Arabia and features two fantastic Elimination Chamber matches. Bobby Lashley defends his WWE Championship against fellow legends Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles and Seth Rollins, and relative newcomers Riddle and Austin Theory, in the men’s match.

Six women, meanwhile, will compete for the right to fight for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania. The match features Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, Bianca Belair, Doudrop, Nikki A.S.H. and Alexa Bliss.

Regardless of whoever emerges as the victors from these ruthless matches, the fans are guaranteed excitement. This PPV has provided the WWE Universe with some of the most amazing spectacles of all time.

Who could forget the first-ever Chamber match in which Shawn Michaels performed ‘Sweet Chin Music’ on Chris Jericho and Triple H to walk away with the world title? Alternatively, there was the heart-wrenching moment that Kofi Kingston narrowly missed out on becoming a WWE Champion for the first time in 2019.

But there’s one memory that perhaps stands out above all the rest. And the man we have to thank for that is none other than the ‘Rated R Superstar’.

Edge goes into the Elimination Chamber PPV with one title – and comes out with another

Edge has captivated fans with his incredible performances since his debut with the company in 1996. He’s never been frightened of anyone or anything, as his showings in the fearsome chamber have proved.

Competing in one of these ridiculous matches is incredibly taxing on the body—never mind two. But it was something that Edge had to do to emerge from the event as a world champion.

In 2009, he entered the Elimination Chamber as the WWE Champion, attempting to defend his belt against five of the most fearsome athletes in the sport. He would have to overcome Triple H, The Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, Big Show and Vladimir Kozlov to retain his belt.

As the always confident man he is, the Ontario native expected to overcome the monstrous odds and keep the title. But in a shocking turn of events, Hardy eliminated him with a roll-up pin within the first few minutes.

The night could have gone down as a massive disaster. However, Edge wouldn’t stand for that.

As the steel structure descended over the ring apron, John Cena prepared to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against five pre-selected opponents.

However, as Kofi Kingston walked to the ring for his shot at glory, ‘The Rated R Superstar’ attacked him and stole his place in the match.

He quickly eliminated the reigning champion before engaging in a battle for the ages against Rey Mysterio. The fans sat on the edge of their seats, with the tension at its highest.

Then Edge delivered his famous Spear, and the rest, as they say, is Elimination Chamber history. He was the new World Heavyweight Champion.
