CM Punk introduced Oban Elliot to one of the greatest of all time at WWE Bash in Berlin… ‘That was mad’

EXCLUSIVE: Oban Elliot couldn’t believe it when CM Punk decided to give him a special treat by introducing him to a 14x WWE World champion.

The UFC star travelled to Berlin to take in the action live and couldn’t believe it when he crossed paths with one of the best to ever do it.

On Saturday night, Oban Elliot will make his wildest dreams come true by competing at UFC 309, inside the world’s most historic arena — Madison Square Garden.

With formidable skills and a charismatic personality, the Welshman is growing in popularity at a rapid rate, with TKO flying him out to Berlin, Germany, to witness WWE Bash in Berlin.

During this trip, Elliot sat ringside and watched CM Punk defeat Drew McIntyre in a brutal ‘Strap match’ and celebrated with him once the battle had reached its conclusion.

Prior to the event, the pair shared some laughs backstage, with the WWE superstar deciding to go out of his way to give the mixed martial artist a memory he’ll never forget.

In an exclusive interview with Sporf, the 26-year-old explained: “CM Punk was backstage and he was like, ‘Is there anything you want to do’? I was like, ‘No mate, you’ve got your match to do. Don’t worry about me’. 

“Being the guy he is, he walks off and then comes back and we’d done all the filming; I was chatting away with other wrestlers. Then, he calls me in, takes me through the door, and then out of this chair, out gets Triple H. I had a full-on conversation with him. That was my maddest memory.”

While his journey in the UFC is still in its early days, the warrior is already making a massive impression on those who’ve come before him. From ‘The American Gangster’ to ‘The Welsh Gangster’, Chael Sonnen made a YouTube video about Elliot, which left the welterweight stunned.

The fighter beamed: “It meant the world. He didn’t even mention a single thing that I do in the Octagon. He just spoke about me as a human being. It was the most surreal ten minutes of my life. I’ve watched it again and again just to try and digest it. That’s like Spiderman coming down and telling an 8-year-old how much of a legend he is.”

Elliot followed this by telling an anecdote about meeting the MMA icon after his winning his UFC debut.

He laughed: “I shouted, ‘Chael’, and he just got out of his seat at the desk and gave me a big hug. It’s just amazing because when I was growing up, he was my influence. If you’ve watched my career, the way I talk, I’m a character influenced by him. So, maybe that’s why it’s an honour for Chael, because he’s done his career, and now he’s seeing this kid that’s influenced by him. If a kid were ever influenced by me then it would be an honour. It’s so crazy, it’s just berserk.”
