Cody Rhodes ends incredible record with Miz win, shows how far he has come

Cody Rhodes made a stunning return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 – and has only gone from strength to strength since then.

‘The American Nightmare’ defeated Seth Rollins at the ‘Show of Shows’, appearing as Rollins’ surprise opponent on night one. Handpicked by Vince McMahon, Rhodes entered the fray to adoration from the crowd, before his signature music rang around AT&T Stadium.

In a hotly contested and entertaining match, Rhodes came out on top, finishing with two landings of his signature Cross Rhodes move.

Since then, Rhodes has taken part in two dark matches following a Raw and SmackDown event, respectively. After delivering an entertaining promo during the event, he defeated Kevin Owens in a Raw dark match. Rhodes then beat Rollins for a second time on Friday night in another off-the-air match at SmackDown.

Viewers at home also got to see ‘The American Nightmare’ back in the ring, as he took on The Miz on the April 11 edition of Raw.

Cody Rhodes makes Raw comeback

The increasingly popular Rhodes appeared on Miz TV at the start of the night. His charm on the mic drew chants for Cody and wound up The Miz. As a result, the crowd were very hyped for their subsequent match.

Following an intense battle, the former AEW star got the better of Miz, successfully hitting a Cross Rhodes to take the win. As ever, the crowd loved it. They loved it even more when Rhodes took up Seth Rollins’ demand for a rematch at WrestleMania Backlash.

As a result of his win at Raw, Cody Rhodes ended an interesting record.

A stunning record ends

According to Wrestling Stats & Info on Twitter, Rhodes’ win brings an end to a very long streak.

Before his Raw return, Rhodes’ last 13 matches on WWE’s red brand had resulted in a loss or a no contest. This rather unfortunate winless run dates back over six years, to July 2015. Finally, the Raw winless streak is over.

His most recent win in a SmackDown dark match puts Rhodes at 4-0 on his return to the federation. The newfound success is a testament to how far ‘The American Nightmare’ has come since his early days.

Rhodes has gone from being released by WWE to apparently becoming the new face of Raw. Rhodes was utilised as the main wrestler representing Raw on a TV advert shown during the USFL American football.

This decision from the company shows just how high Rhodes has risen. It even signals more potential success in the future for ‘The American Nightmare’.
