Erik ten Hag has five transfer targets that will excite Man United fans

The imminent arrival of Erik ten Hag as Man United manager is exciting for fans – especially with the transfers that reportedly may come alongside the new boss.

Although he has not yet signed a deal, reports from BBC suggest an agreement is in place. When finalised, ten Hag will likely join on a three-year contract with an option of an extra season. However, no confirmation was expected until after Ajax’s Dutch Cup final against PSV Eindhoven.

This match has passed, but it was not the final that Ten Hag wanted. The Amsterdam side lost 2-1, leaving the Eredivisie as the last opportunity for silverware this season.

Ajax are looking good for a third successive league title with a four-point lead and five matches remaining. It would be a fitting send-off for a great manager.

On the flip side, Erik ten Hag will have his work cut out at Man United, with one of his first tasks being a squad rebuild.

United’s tough season

The Old Trafford side will finish the season without a trophy again. Furthermore, reports of unhappiness in the dressing room and controversy have both tarnished the season.

As a result, United fans can expect a busy summer transfer window. Veteran players Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani are set to leave, while Paul Pogba is part of a massive contract saga. In addition, midfielder Nemanja Matic has announced his exit at the end of the season.

Rumours suggest other players such as Marcus Rashford may exit too. Therefore, United need reinforcements.

Erik ten Hag: his Man United wish list

Top of Ten Hag’s shopping list is two players he wants to bring from Ajax. According to the Daily Mirror, Antony and Jurrien Timber are the duo that the Dutchman wants at Old Trafford.

The pair have been two of Ajax’s best players this season, whilst also being young and with plenty of potential to develop further. In addition, they are familiar with Ten Hag’s philosophy and management style.

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, meanwhile, is one of the more surprising players that Erik ten Hag wants at Man United. At just 19, the tall centre-back is the type of signing that the Dutchman likes; he can mould him to his play style.

Another young midfielder fits Ten Hag’s transfer policy. Enzo Fernandez, who plays for Argentinian giants River Plate, reportedly impressed scouts in his last game. Therefore, United want the 21-year-old to strengthen the midfield. His release clause currently stands at £16 million but it could rise to £20 million by the summer.

Further midfield reinforcements may come in the form of Aurelien Tchouameni. The Frenchman is one of Europe’s most highly-rated youngsters. As a result, United would have to fork out something in the £50-60 million region to take him away from Monaco.

However, they may face stiff competition from Europe’s elite, with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea also interested.
