Cody Rhodes net worth: How much has the ‘American Nightmare’ earned?

Cody Rhodes has recently returned to WWE after a hugely successful spell with rival promotion AEW. During his career, he has accumulated a substantial net worth.

Rhodes made his comeback to WWE on the opening night of WrestleMania 38. He was announced as Seth Rollins‘ mystery opponent at the event after weeks of speculation that he would appear.

The 36-year-old reprised the ‘American Nightmare’ gimmick that had accompanied him throughout his time in AEW. Rhodes was met with an incredible reception from the fans in attendance in Dallas, and put on an accomplished showing against Rollins.

Rhodes secured victory via pinfall, and made his intentions clear on his future plans on the following edition of Raw with a tribute to his late father, WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.

He told the crowd: “I cannot physically put that title belt into my father’s hands. I cannot bestow it upon the ‘American Dream’, Dusty Rhodes. But I certainly can put it around the waist of the ‘American Nightmare’.

“I’m going to give the distinction that my family has long since been denied. And I’m going to do it for you, I’m going to do it for me, I’m going to do it for my family, and I am going to do it for the ‘American Dream’, Dusty Rhodes.”

Rhodes makes triumphant WWE return

Cody Rhodes has returned to WWE following his departure from AEW.

He played a role in forming AEW upon his first WWE exit in 2018, becoming an executive vice-president of the company.

During his initial run in WWE, Rhodes was involved in various notable storylines. He formed the villainous stable ‘The Legacy’ alongside Randy Orton and Ted DiBiase in 2008. Rhodes and DiBiase won the World Tag Team Championships twice.

Following the breakup of ‘The Legacy’, Rhodes moved into singles competition. He took on a ‘Dashing’ gimmick, which proved popular with fans, before morphing into a character who would wear a paper bag over his head before matches.

After a spell as ‘Stardust’, teaming alongside his half-brother Goldust, Rhodes departed WWE in 2017. He joined AEW a year later and became a three-time AEW TNT Champion.

Following his failure to agree to a new deal with the company, Rhodes announced his decision to move on to pastures new in February of this year. WWE appeared to be the next step – and so it has proved.

Rhodes has had a highly successful career, and is now looking to take it to the next level. But how much has he earned, and what is his net worth?

According to Essentially Sports, Cody Rhodes has a net worth totalling $4 million as of 2022.

A report from The Sports Grill claimed that Rhodes was one of the highest-paid stars in AEW in 2021. The report states that he earned $3 million in the year, with only Jon Moxley earning more. Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega also earned the same as Rhodes.

Speaking on The Ringer Wrestling Show after WrestleMania 38, Rhodes explained what his new WWE contract looks like.

He said (quotes via Wrestling News): “It’s maybe the most complex document or contract ever drawn up in the history of our game, but full commitment. Full multi-year commitment, not a part-time deal.

“It’s back to what I used to do every day on the road. These people were wonderful enough to get me a bus so that my family could be with me, and I got everyone, all of them, here tonight. So they bet on me, and I’m gonna bet on WWE. I’m really looking forward to it.”
