EXCLUSIVE: Davey Grant was over the moon after Dana White treated him to a special present following his first victory in The Ultimate Fighter.
The British brawler returns to action on Saturday night at UFC Tampa against Ramon Taveras.
Dana White gave Davey Grant a Harley-Davidson
In his remarkable career, Davey Grant has gone on quite the journey, with the athlete first jumping in the cage to prove to his mates he actually had MMA experience, to going all the way to Las Vegas to compete on The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs Team Tate.
During this period, the charismatic sportsman proved he had what it took to operate at the top level, beating Danny Martinez via second-round submission in front of Dana White.
Following the contest, the UFC President gave the athlete a memory he’ll never forget.
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, Grant, enthused: “It was crazy. I remember fighting in front of Dana White straight away, and that was pretty good. He was clapping and being like, ‘Well done’, because I finished my first fight and he was really impressed. So, that was good.
“We went to the Harley-Davidson shop, so we could choose which Harley-Davidson we wanted when we won. It was a great experience.”
However, while that was undenibaly a pretty epic moment, it’s not the craziest thing the Darlington athlete has been through, with the 38-year-old revealing the one experience that stands out the most.
He beamed: “The whole world was in lockdown, and then, I got a call saying I was going to be able to fight in Fight Island in Abu Dhabi. So, we got carted down to London, where we had to quarantine in our hotel. Then, we got a private flight from London to Abu Dhabi. We had our own island cordoned off for a couple of miles with jet skis.
“It was a pretty good fight [against Martin Day]. I went and got the bonus as well for the first time. It was crazy to be doing that at a time like that. To go and do that and be the first fight on Fight Island, that’s got to be up there.”
When asked whether he had a go on the jet skis, the sportsman laughed: “I did, yeah. I probably shouldn’t have because I was fighting in a few days.”
