Dejan Kulusevski posts highlight reel of Spurs spell, starts by mocking reporter

Spurs winger Dejan Kulusevski seized the chance to fire back at critics as he mocked a reporter on Instagram.

The Swedish international adapted impressively to the Premier League, making an instant impact for Tottenham. On his first start for the club, Kulusevski scored and claimed an assist as Spurs beat Manchester City 3-2.

Following this great start, the winger became a brilliant third option in Tottenham’s three-pronged attack alongside Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.

In 18 league matches, Dejan Kulusevski chipped in 13 goal contributions – five goals and eight assists. His fantastic input inspired the north London side to a top-four finish, which they secured on the final day.

On the last day, Spurs ran out 5-0 winners over already-relegated Norwich to secure their place in next season’s Champions League. Their January signing calmed nerves early on when he put Tottenham 1-0 up after just 16 minutes. In addition, Kulusevski scored a second goal in that game with a beautiful curling effort.

Because of his profound impact since his arrival, Spurs fans will undoubtedly hope that the Swede extends his stay in North London.

Kulusevski’s current deal

Tottenham signed the player in January on a loan deal from parent club Juventus. This is an 18-month loan, for which Spurs forked out £8.3 million. They are also fully paying Kulusevski’s wages.

Tottenham can sign the winger permanently at the end of the loan spell. His release clause currently stands at £25 million.

However, if Dejan Kulusevski plays in half of their league fixtures in 2022/23, and Spurs qualify for the Champions League, they have to pay £33.5 million. Tottenham, therefore have a decision to make. Do they sign him now, or wait to see how next season goes and potentially pay more?

According to talkSPORT, Antonio Conte wants to pay the Swede’s release clause this summer and sign Kulusevski permanently. This could potentially save them £8.5 million, and lock down a very potent front three. Additionally, Kulusevski seems very happy at Spurs, meaning a deal could be simple.

The winger really enjoyed his second half of the season in the Premier League. Such was his enjoyment, Kulusevski posted highlights of his best moments on his Instagram account – firing shots at a critic in the process.

Dejan Kulusevski mocks reporter

The Instagram video starts with a clip of Fabrizio Romano confirming the Swede’s move to Tottenham. However, what follows that clip is what grabs attention.

Kulusevski includes a screenshot of a tweet from Carlo Garganese in his highlight reel. The Italian journalist’s tweet criticises the winger for his one-on-one ability, saying he “hasn’t beaten his man for two years”.

Additionally, it mocks Spurs for the amount of money they spent on Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur. The Uruguayan midfielder also moved from Juventus in January.

In a brutal putdown of the reporter, Kulusevski then showcases some of his best goals, skills and assists in a Spurs shirt.

He definitely ‘beats his man’ in the clips, put it that way. Kulusevski was definitely not afraid to fire back at this critic. Despite the impressive display, Carlo Garganese somehow watched it and doubled down on his criticism. Garganese took to Twitter to respond to Kulusevski’s mocking.

“I don’t care if Kulusevski took a dribble at me (he never beats his man anyway), so you Spursy fans can all stop tweeting me,” he fired back. “[I] stand by what I said 100pc [per cent]. Spurs have two world-class attackers who carry everyone and a genius coach. They’re nothing without them.

“[Ivan] Perisic is a beast tho.”

It is safe to say that the beef between the Italian reporter and Spurs may not be finished just yet.
