Manchester United players are set to receive a drastic increase in pay after securing a spot in the 2026/27 Champions League.
While the satisfaction of earning the opportunity to play against the best teams in Europe will undoubtedly fill the squad with joy, the boost in bank balance certainly won’t hurt either.
Most Manchester United players to receive 25% pay rise
On Sunday afternoon, Manchester United hosted Liverpool in a dramatic Premier League affair. After a glistening start, in which they went 2-0 up, the home side crumbled, allowing ‘The Reds’ to equal the score. But when it looked like his side had thrown it all away, Kobbie Mainoo stepped up to the plate, scoring an exceptional goal to earn a thrilling victory for his club.
The win bagged the resurging team a place in the Champions League, which in turn, earned the majority of the players a huge increase in pay. As per The Guardian, while not everyone will receive a pay rise, most will, including Bruno Fernandes, who will now be on £250,000 a week.

The report says that both Mainoo and Harry Maguire, who recently signed new deals, were incentivized regarding their involvement in next season’s Champions League.
It is not currently public knowledge which players will miss out entirely. The reason that they will not receive the increase is thought to be due to individual clauses in their contracts.
Having spent two years away from the Champions League, United fans are thrilled to have the opportunity to watch their side dine at the top table of European football once more.
And having had such a good spell at the wheel, Michael Carrick is expected to be offered the full-time position.
