Eddie Hearn gets into heated exchange with fans following Joshua loss

Eddie Hearn didn’t back down when confronted with a verbal challenge by boxing fans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

It’s safe to say the weekend didn’t quite go as planned for Eddie Hearn as he sat front row and saw Anthony Joshua fall to defeat at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk. The unbeaten Ukrainian put on an absolute clinic against the hometown hero and managed to secure a unanimous decision win, taking home the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles in the process.

Hearn was honest with the media in his post-fight interviews and while he was clearly disappointed with what went down, he wasn’t going to shy away from the reality of the situation.

Don’t mess with Eddie Hearn

Alas, while it’s all well and good to mock and tease from time to time, some fans in attendance decided to take things a bit too far by shouting “Eddie you p***y” as he was walking backstage with Joshua and his team.

The situation was at risk of turning dangerous when Hearn turned around and replied: “What did you say? What did you say? You’ve s**t yourself now!”.

Nobody can ever accuse Eddie Hearn of not sticking his neck out on the line for his Matchroom Boxing fighters. Still, this felt like he was going above and beyond, even if there was no real threat involved thanks to the presence of security.

The next step for Hearn will be to get back to the drawing board and hope Joshua can rebound in a potential rematch against Usyk next year.
