The scorecards for the three judges at ringside for Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk have been released.
Last Saturday night, Anthony Joshua was left to face the reality of his second professional boxing loss as he was beaten by Oleksandr Usyk. The judges scored the contest 115-113, 116-112 and 117-112 with the unanimous decision being greeted with a big sigh of relief from many boxing fans around the world.
One of the primary reasons for that is because the sport has often been associated with corruption and given the fact Joshua was fighting in London, some wondered whether or not the atmosphere of the crowd would play a factor in how the judges scored the contest.
A robbery avoided
In the end they needn’t have worried as the unbeaten Ukrainian came away with the win he so richly deserved – although it could’ve been a very different story if Joshua had been able to turn up the heat in the final third of the bout.
One of the biggest takeaways that fans have had since the scorecards were released focused on Howard Foster. As per the above image, he scored both the first and second round for Joshua when 99.9% of viewers and pundits alike felt Usyk dominated through the first three rounds.
The unbelievable performance put on by Usyk ensured that there was going to be no controversy at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but on a different night with a bit more of a push from AJ we could have witnessed something resembling a riot within the boxing community.
