The fight that the world has desperately craved is finally here, as Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford are just hours away from proving once and for all who the best welterweight on the planet is. And we’ve got all the details on how you can watch the action.
In a battle that embodies the term 50/50, the pair have travelled the globe, proving their world-class skills beyond doubt. With both men possessing ferocious power and frightening fight IQ, they were always destined to cross paths, and now the contest has arrived; fans can’t believe it, especially considering the difficult road it took to get here.
15 years ago, Crawford nearly lost his life when a stray bullet missed its target and hit him in the head. Miraculously, ‘Bud’ not only survived, but used the frightening experience to fuel his fire.
With mesmerising talent, the Omaha, Nebraska native has always oozed class, and he showed his repertoire in full force when he travelled to Glasgow to fight Ricky Burns.
He won his first title with ease, before stepping up in weight and becoming the undisputed champion at super lightweight. But his journey wasn’t done yet. He climbed up to the premier division of boxing and dismantled Jeff Horn to become a three-division champion.
However, despite his achievements, he’s missing that career-defining win. But at the age of 35, he finally has his opportunity to prove himself as one of the greatest of all time.
This is the biggest fight in years
Born in Dallas, Texas, Spence was always set for superstardom. With dynamite hands and a ramrod jab, he rocketed up the rankings, travelling to the UK to rip the IBF title away from Kell Brook in front of his home fans at Bramall Lane, Sheffield.
He continued his meteoric rise, beating both Lamont Peterson and Shawn Porter. But then tragedy struck.
An alcohol-fuelled night resulted in disaster when Spence crashed his car.
Sadly, it looked like his career was over, but incredibly, he bounced back, defeating Danny Garcia, before stunning Yordenis Ugas to win his third world title.
In a battle that pits the best against the best, the world will stand still as the pair of boxing icons trade leather for global supremacy.
