Fan footage shows amazing scenes at the Bernabeu as Real win Champions League

Real Madrid fans watching the 2022 Champions League Final at the Santiago Bernabeu produced joyful scenes when the full-time whistle blew.

Choruses of cheers could be heard as fans celebrated with one another. Real Madrid had just won their 14th European Cup.

Vinicius Junior’s second-half goal proved to be the difference as Carlo Ancelotti’s side overcame Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to win the Champions League in Paris.

The Reds dominated the first half but couldn’t find an opener as Madrid’s defence remained firm. Karim Benzema thought he had got the opener on the stroke of half-time, but it was ruled out for offside.

After the break, the Spanish champions put up much more of a fight. Vinicius scored midway through the second period.

Despite Liverpool’s best efforts to find an equaliser, the Madrid defence, and the remarkable Thibaut Courtois, kept Klopp’s side at bay.

Real, therefore, have added another trophy to their incredible season. They have also won the La Liga title by a comfortable margin, and the Supercopa de Espana.

How many fans were in Paris?

Both sides had been allocated around 20,000 tickets for the 75,000-capacity Stade de France.

But for Liverpool in particular, much more than that travelled to the French capital. There were reportedly 60,000 Reds in Paris for the final.

Of course, fan bases of clubs the size of Real Madrid and Liverpool stretch across the globe, and more than 20,000 supporters go along to the Bernabeu or Anfield every single week.

For those Real Madrid supporters who could not secure a ticket, the club organised for the Bernabeu to show the fixture on four giant screens. The response was as expected.

The iconic stadium was sold out for the match, as fans piled in to support their side at their home ground.

Real Madrid fans celebrate in the Bernabeu

When the final whistle blew, the Bernabeu erupted into celebration. Fans leapt upon one another and basked in the success of their team.

You would be forgiven for assuming that the match had just been played in the Spanish capital. The joy was remarkable.

Some fans inside the Bernabeu caught the scenes on their phones and posted them on social media.

Despite not being in Paris, the Madrid supporters made sure they enjoyed their success.
