Fan shouts “Werner out” at Chelsea striker during training session

A fan was booed out of Stamford Bridge during an open training session on Wednesday for telling Timo Werner to “get out” of the club.

It’s not exactly a secret that Timo Werner hasn’t been lighting the Premier League on fire since arriving from RB Leipzig last year. The German forward scored a handful of goals for the Blues last season but more often than not, he replicated the form of Fernando Torres when he first made his way over from Liverpool.

Disrespect shown at the Bridge

Chelsea, as a whole, have an elite level first team squad and that was exemplified earlier this year when they captured their second Champions League title. Now, with the addition of Romelu Lukaku, the hope is that they can push Manchester City all the way in the race to become champions of England.

Lukaku could also serve as a great motivator and partner for Werner and with full crowds returning to stadiums, the next few weeks could be crucial to seeing how Timo adapts and builds on the momentum created by his fellow teammates.

Unfortunately, some supporters have simply had enough – with one making that pretty clear to the 25-year-old yesterday.

Many have rightly pointed out that while he may not be finding the back of the net, Werner’s work ethic and intelligent runs have really aided Chelsea and will likely continue to do so under the leadership of Thomas Tuchel.

Werner is no fool and he knows that the home faithful will be on his back if he doesn’t start taking his chances. Still, if he’s able to produce a decent assortment of assists, Tuchel won’t be able to deny him a consistent spot in the starting XI.

Chelsea and Werner will return to action this Sunday when they take on local rivals Arsenal.
