Manchester United fans have reacted to the astonishing combination that helped lift Rayo Vallecano to a late win over Athletic Bilbao last night – Bebe and Radamel Falcao.
Over the years there have been plenty of players who didn’t quite pan out at Old Trafford for one reason or another and that’s been especially true since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. Whether it be because their style of play doesn’t suit the system or they simply aren’t good enough, not everyone is going to be a guaranteed success story with Manchester United.
From rags to riches
Two men who know that better than most are the aforementioned duo of Bebe and Falcao. While the Colombian forward only spent a brief period of time with the Red Devils on loan, the Portuguese midfielder endured four years on the books in Manchester before departing with his tail between his legs.
Now, in the present day, the pair are busy tearing it up for Rayo Vallecano – a side that currently finds itself in the top four of La Liga.
With the scoreline locked at 1-1 it was left to Bebe to whip in the perfect 96th minute cross for Falcao, and the 35-year-old was more than happy to nod the ball into the back of the net.
Given their respective shortcomings with United, it made sense to see the Stretford End contingent voice their surprise at this development on Tuesday.
“Bebe assist. Falcao goal. In the 97th minute. In 2021. I’m ready for the 30 For 30 documentary on this occurrence.”
“Never mind the goal by Falcao, Bebe. Bebe. Is whipping them in.”
They’ll hope to keep this partnership going strong when Vallecano host Cadiz on Sunday.
