As excitement builds for the latest instalment of EA’s marquee video game, some lucky players will have the chance to try it out early. Here is everything you need to know about the FIFA 23 closed beta, including its release time, how to get a code, and what modes you may get to try.
The upcoming FIFA game boasts a raft of changes to both gameplay and different modes. Headlining the adjustments is Hypermotion 2.0, which contains thousands of real-life football movements adapted into the virtual world.
In addition, gamers can expect a more immersive Career Mode, plus the chance to play with women’s club teams for the first time.
FIFA 23 also sees the return of the World Cup game mode add-on. This will feature both the men’s tournament in Qatar, and the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
So, when can fans get their hands on a preliminary version of the game? You will not have to wait too long if you can get into the FIFA 23 closed beta.
What is the FIFA 23 closed beta release date?
FIFPlay.com reports that the work-in-progress version will become available to those with codes later today (August 11). According to an image shared by FUTZone on Twitter, users can start playing from 6pm UK time.
However, the FIFA 23 closed beta reportedly has two different closing times. Per HITC, some players can test the game until 6pm on September 1. Alternatively, other code-owners can access the beta for just two weeks, until midnight on August 25. Your invite will tell you the duration of your trial.
The real lottery is getting a code at all, though.
How can I check for a code?
As ever, EA send out a limited number of codes for their closed beta to players who used their games in the past year. As a result, not everyone will get access to the FIFA 23 beta. It is also worth mentioning that just Xbox and PlayStation gamers receive codes, so PC and other consoles miss out too.
But you can check if you were one of the lucky ones by making sure you have email preferences switched on in your EA account. The developers send out the codes to these addresses. Therefore, you need to select “yes” to email communications from EA and FIFA.
You will also need to set your location to either UK or North America, as players from here receive the beta. This is because the game build is only in English at this stage.
Then, it is as simple as keeping an eye on your inbox to see if you get a beta code. Unfortunately, EA have already sent out the ones for today’s launch.
You may have to wait for round two of invites instead, which The Mirror say will arrive a week or two after the first batch. Other sources on Twitter suggest that the release date for the second beta codes is August 24. Keep checking your emails, just in case.
What game modes are available?
Even if you get beta access, EA will decide what game modes you can play.
According to the EA Help website, players will have access to several different areas of the game. Kick-off, online seasons, online friendlies, and the practice arena are available to all beta testers.
Additionally, a select number of people can try out the other modes. A limited number of codes also provide access to Ultimate Team, Career Mode, VOLTA Football, or Pro Clubs.
Sadly, these vary from person-to-person, so not everyone will have access to each of these elements. Your code email will tell you what game modes will be available to you.
Being able to access an early build of FIFA 23 is exciting no matter what game mode you get, though. If you are lucky enough to access the FIFA 23 closed beta, enjoy it!
