Fantasy Premier League: Five transfer tips for Gameweek 28

Gameweek 28 is set up to be massive in the world of Fantasy Premier League – and we’ve got some transfer tips.

Several teams have double-stacked fixtures, with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea returning to action too.

The mix of double Gameweeks and blank fixtures undoubtedly causes headaches for FPL managers. Here are a few Fantasy Premier League tips that may be able to help:

Double Gameweek options

Wolves are one of eight teams that have a double Gameweek. They play both Norwich and Crystal Palace at home. On paper, they are favourable fixtures, making Wolves players a valuable asset.

One to look out for in particular is defender Romain Saiss. The Moroccan has been a regular in a solid defence which has kept nine clean sheets this season. He also provides a threat from set-pieces, having notched two goals in this campaign.

Owned by just 3.7% of FPL managers, Saiss can be a differential this week. With two bottom-half teams visiting Molineux, the potential for clean sheet points may be up for grabs.

Fresh off a heart-breaking penalty shootout defeat in the Carabao Cup Final, Chelsea return to the league with a double Gameweek. They take on relegation battlers Burnley and Norwich, both away from home.

The Blues’ strength lies in the defence. They have kept 11 clean sheets this season, plus their defenders have often chipped in with goals. A reliable, more premium option is German centre-half Antonio Rudiger. He has missed just one of Chelsea’s 25 games in the league this season, making him an essential part of Tuchel’s team.

Like Saiss, Rudiger has also got on the scoresheet twice this season. His presence at set-pieces will no doubt be a major threat once again in the upcoming week.

You would feel pretty confident in seeing some points in at least one of the fixtures from the Chelsea man.

Returning Liverpool attackers

Liverpool return to league action this week, having lifted the Carabao Cup last Sunday. The hottest property in all of FPL is Mohamed Salah. He has a staggering 209 points this season, justifying his nearly 60% ownership. A must-have for sure.

Too expensive? More sensibly priced options are out there for budget-restricted managers. Luis Diaz (£8.0m) and Diogo Jota (£8.3m) are cheaper alternatives to the point powerhouses Salah and Mane.

However, only one of Diaz and Jota will likely start. If you are looking to gain some points back, they could still provide good differential returns. For example, Jota scored twice in his last Premier League start, bringing in 16 points.

Differential potential

The double Gameweek opens up plenty of opportunities for differential picks. Here are our two Fantasy Premier League tips.

Although owned by some 30% of managers, Emmanuel Dennis is still an underrated differential choice in FPL. The Watford forward is enjoying his first season in the Premier League, scoring nine goals. FPL managers may take a chance on the Nigerian given he has a double Gameweek, albeit against Arsenal and Wolves.

That being said, at just £6.1m, he may be worth a shot. This year, Watford have pulled off some unusual results, including a 4-1 thrashing of Manchester United and a huge 5-2 win over Everton. If anyone is to be involved in a goal for the Hornets in the next week, it will surely be Dennis.

Another differential pick is James Ward-Prowse. The Southampton midfielder has just 9% ownership, while being a budget-friendly £6.6m. The Saints have fixtures in GW28 against Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Given that Ward-Prowse is on all set-pieces for Southampton, he has numerous avenues to collect fantasy points. He is heavily involved in a Southampton side in good form – therefore might be worth bringing in.

Fantasy Premier League is always a lottery. Gameweek 28 promises to bring surprises, ecstasy, and maybe some frustration to all FPL managers.
