If anyone needed cheering up by a beautiful guide dog on this gloomy Tuesday, then you’ve come to the right place.
Over the course of the last few weeks it’s been great to see supporters back in grounds up and down the country after 18 months of exile due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From veteran supporters to a fresh crop of youngsters heading to their first game, it really has been a breath of fresh air to hear the sound of chants being sung and goals being celebrated for the first time in what feels like forever.
In keeping with that mentality we’ve also seen a parade of old videos resurface on social media as a “celebration” of what fans can bring to the table with regards to the footy.
The beautiful game
In this particular clip we get what can only be described as an utterly heartwarming shot of a guide dog celebrating a goal with its owner amongst the cheering Leeds United fans at Elland Road.
The video shows Leeds season ticket holder Nikki Allan with her lovely dog Rita who, back towards the end of 2019, retired from her role as Nikki’s support at matches.
The relationship between an owner and their dog has always been pretty remarkable to see in society but in particular, it’s wonderful to know that Rita enhanced the experience of Nikki whenever they made their way down to Elland Road together.
