We picked our combined starting 11 from the Carabao Cup final

Ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final, there’s no denying that Aston Villa have their work cut out for them, though stranger things have happened in football.

Manchester City haven’t looked the same formidable force this year and Dean Smith will be drilling that into his Villa squad that Pep’s side are by no means unbeatable.

That being said, City’s affinity with the competition is hard to ignore, winning three out of the last four campaigns.

To get ourselves in the mood for the match, we’ve chosen a combined starting lineup, featuring players from both sides who have performed well throughout the Carabao cup.

Unsurprisingly, the team is dominated by Pep’s men, though there is justified inclusions for both Jack Grealish and Tyrone Mings, who have both had stellar competitions. There’s also a spot for Norweigan goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland, whose semi final heroics secured Villa’s showdown with City.

As part of our ongoing partnership, we also asked Stiliyan Petrov and Micah Richards to settle on their own combined l1, making for some interesting inclusions.
