Forget Greenwood, fans think they have found the worst FIFA 22 player rating

The first batch of FIFA 22 ratings have been released over the course of the last week – and they have certainly caused debate amongst fans.

FIFA players were overly critical of the decision to upgrade Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood by just one overall point to 78, despite another encouraging season at the Red Devils.

Another interesting talking point was the decision to downgrade team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

But a number of FIFA fans believe that the worst rating on the game has been awarded to Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

The Frenchman is well renowned for his pace and skill on the ball, and they appear to be reflected in the game. His pace stands at 91, alongside 87 dribbling.

However, Saint-Maximin’s pace has actually been downgraded, from 93 to 91. There’s also a one point reduction to his shooting, which is down to 69.

In addition, his passing stat has dropped from 72 to 70, whilst his physical stat is down from 63 to 61. The Newcastle man’s overall has been downgraded to 79 from 80, despite another impressive season for the Magpies.

The impact he has on Steve Bruce’s side was perhaps best seen in the closing stages of the campaign.

After returning to the side in April, the winger played a part in five victories, two draws and two defeats as the Magpies avoided relegation.

His goal and assist after coming off the bench against Burnley turned the game in Newcastle’s favour. They would go on to win the game 2-1 – sparking the run that saw them sprint clear of the drop zone.

FIFA fans have expressed their disappointment at Saint-Maximin’s rating on Twitter:

Saint-Maximin reacts to FIFA rating

Speaking about his new FIFA card, Saint-Maximin said: “It’s a nice card, yeah it’s ok. Pace, dribbling, shooting not too good.

“94 [should be pace]. Passing, I need more… I’m strong, so 61 [physical] is not too good.

“They need to upgrade that [dribbling] man, I think I’m at least an 80. 72 shooting. It’s crazy man, yeah [it should be] 80’s again.”
