Francis Ngannou is reportedly being lined up for a return to action at UFC 270 in January against fellow title holder Ciryl Gane.
Thanks to his blockbuster knockout win over Stipe Miocic earlier this year, Francis Ngannou currently holds the distinction of being the UFC heavyweight champion. However, after a disagreement between “The Predator” and the promotion regarding his return date, an interim championship was created for UFC 265 in August.
On that night the undefeated Ciryl Gane tore through Derrick Lewis with ruthless efficiency and set up a mammoth unification showdown with Ngannou. The only problem, at that stage, was that nobody knew when it was going to happen – until now.

La Sueur, MMA Junkie and a variety of other sources are reporting that Francis Ngannou vs Ciryl Gane will serve as the main event for UFC 270, the first pay-per-view event of the year for the UFC. There’s no official date or venue currently set in stone but as it stands, that’s what the matchmakers are pushing forward with.
Get ready for carnage
The event would also feature one of the most important rematches in UFC history with Israel Adesanya defending his UFC middleweight title against Robert Whittaker, the man who he won it from two years ago.
These are preliminary plans and they could obviously change but as of this writing, UFC 270 has an absolutely insane amount of potential – as well as star power.
