Future Muhammad Mokaev opponents and wild Thailand stories… Mohammad Shahid reveals all ahead of BRAVE CF 100

EXCLUSIVE: Mohammad Shahid can’t wait for the title clash between Muhammad Mokaev and Gerard Burns at BRAVE CF 100.

And with a victory could the popular Brit who many consider to be the best flyweight on the planet already, unlock a monstrous fight with a fellow former UFC star?

Mohammad Shahid talks Muhammad Mokaev vs Jose Torres

In front of a packed crowd at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town, Bahrain, Muhammad Mokaev will attempt to win the BRAVE CF championship belt.

While his Irish opponent certainly hasn’t come to make up the numbers, some fans can’t help but fantasize over a potential clash between the Brit and Jose Torres.

However, according to Mohammad Shahid, that’s unlikely to be next, with the BRAVE CF President telling Sporf: “Muhammad Mokaev vs ‘Shorty’ was something that we all dreamt of. Everybody in BRAVE CF would say we all had eyes on that fight to happen. It was definitely the plan. Shorty decided to go to the bantamweight division and test his skills there, and he lost the trilogy with Nkosi Ndebele.

“So, Shorty has some work to do. His manager, Alexis is here, and we’re having the conversation about what is next for Shorty. He has to come back stronger and go to flyweight and get used to the division before he competes with Mokaev. He’s got a couple of fights before that happens, but it’s a dream fight. In IMMAF they did the same thing and at the professional level, they’ve done the same thing. They’ve come to BRAVE CF and everything matches together.”

Mohammad Shahid had a wild experience in Thailand

Shahid hasn’t just earned the respect of the fans for putting on excellent events, but from the fighters themselves, who admire him for having walked into battle just as they have.

The businessman adores combat, having compiled an impressive 4-2 MMA record. However, before his time in the cage, Shahid made a name for himself in Muay Thai.

The warrior left his home to fly to Thailand, where he lived off protein shakes and Nutella in a bid to make his dreams come true.

His experience out there was nothing short of surreal, with the bizarre story of his first fight sticking with him to this day.

He reminisced: “Around 6PM, the sun was down. It was like a blur. They came and they started honking, and I see this pickup, and I jumped into the back and the car just took off. We were driving for an hour through the jungle. I was like, ‘Should I send a message to my mum’?

“Then, I reached the venue, the coaches I had didn’t speak English. I could hear screaming and drunk people betting. They took me to a room, and put this Thai oil on me and they put flower on me. I felt like a chicken being prepared for slaughter. I was like a dummy.

“They took me into the arena and made me sit on a chair. There was another guy next to me. I looked at him like, ‘You’ve gone through the same thing I’ve gone through’. I was smiling and trying to relate to him, and he was looking at me with a mean face, and I realized he didn’t want to talk to me.

“That turned out to be my opponent. It didn’t go two rounds. After I won the fight, it was just people coming in, putting money in my mouth, and going, ‘I bet on you, take half of it’. It was a crazy experience. I’m grateful for that mentality, I use that now. I use the fighter’s heart in my life.”
