After a rocky few years with Manchester United, Harry Maguire looked to have had an escape route to sunny Italy.
While last year went poorly for the centre-back, this season has gone even worse, with the player falling down the pecking order. New boss, Erik ten Hag, has selected Lisandro Martinez to play next to Raphael Varane, consequently rendering the Old Trafford veteran to the role of bench warmer.
Despite his best efforts, the powerhouse has struggled to generate any momentum, resulting in enormous weight being placed on his shoulders. But The Daily Mail claimed the 29-year-old could’ve found a way out.
The publication reported that Inter Milan desperately wanted to bring Maguire to the San Siro in a bid to bolster their back line. With Milan Skriniar possibly leaving for PSG this month, it would’ve allowed the England international to play first-team football and rebuild his confidence.
However, Ten Hag has refused to sanction the move, meaning the defender is staying until the end of the season.

Harry Maguire talks FA Cup fourth-round victory
After starting in United’s 3-1 win over Reading, he’s determined to find a way back into the gaffer’s good books.
He told ITV: “I feel like I’ve looked after myself – I think it’s two-and-a-half weeks since my last start – so I’ve been working hard in training, the lads who’ve been playing have been doing well,l so when I get the opportunity I need to take it and make sure we win. “It was nice to be out there helping the lads, and I’m ready when my chance comes.”
He continued: “I’m working hard every day, I’m pushing, I’m training well, and when my chance comes I need to take it.
“We know at this club we need competition for places, we have some top centre-backs at this club, so I think we’re all good from now until the end of the season.”
