EXCLUSIVE: Jack Shore has opened up about how a wild pool party in Las Vegas ended up with his coach in a state of complete and utter disarray.
The Welsh icon will return to the cage on Saturday night against Youssef Zalal at UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs Albazi, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Jack Shore reveals what happened at the pool party with Paddy Pimblett
Since the moment he first started his combat sports journey with his father at the age of just six, Jack Shore was destined for greatness.
Through hard work and determination, the Welsh star has travelled the world, mesmerising crowds with his fearsome skills.
And his greatest memory came during a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, where he defeated Liudvik Sholinian on the Derek Brunson vs Darren Till, undercard.
With his team in high spirits, Shore joined Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann for a pool party.
However, when he decided to go to bed and left one of his coaches and a teammate to enjoy a night of drinking, an amusing disaster occurred.
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, the fighter explained: “I’ll tell you a funny one ― that party was a bit of a wild night. I don’t drink a lot anyway, and I didn’t drink too much because after the fight, I just didn’t feel like it. And we were flying home early the next day. So, my old man, he’s not much of a drinker either, he said, ‘Do you want to go back to the room and get some food’? I said, ‘Yes’. But my other coach, Carl and my teammate, Levi Batchelor ― they were in full-on party mode ― they weren’t cutting the night at 9PM.
“We were like, ‘Come on, boys’, they were like, ‘No, we’ll be alright’. So we agreed, ‘F**k it, we’ll leave them by the pool’. So, me and my old man went up and had some food. There was a knock on the hotel room door at about 11:30 PM, we were in bed. So, we peak through the hole in the door and Levi and Carl are stood there in their swim shorts, no t-shirt, no shoes. One had a bottle vodka and the other had a bottle of gin. They were shouting, ‘Let us in, we’re starving’. My old man was like, ‘Don’t you dare open that door’.
“Get up the next day to fly home, Levi was 20-years-old, at that age you don’t suffer from hangovers, but Carl, he didn’t stop being sick all the way home. We flew to Chicago first and then we went to get on our connecting flight to London Heathrow. We got to the gate and the woman at the gate, let my old man, Levi and I on the plane. Then, she looked at Carl, and said, ‘You’re not on this flight’. He replied, ‘What do you mean’? Bear in mind, he’s absolutely dying, I’ve never seen someone so ill.
“She told him that he was on a different airline in terminal four. The UFC had booked him on a different flight. He was never going to make the flight, it was in ten minutes. So, he ends up having to do another six hours in Chicago on death’s door. And I don’t think he’s ever drunk since. That was three years ago. It’s scarred him for life.”
The anecdote is one of Shore’s favourites. However, at the age of 29, he has plenty of time to create more memories, with the fighter hoping a big win this weekend, will propel him towards massive fights in the future.
