With his amazing career having finally reached its conclusion, Karlos Vemola has set his sights on becoming just like his hero — Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Harbouring the weight of a nation on his shoulders, the Czech icon walked to the cage at Oktagon 58 in front of 27,000 fans at Eden Stadium in Prague, with ‘The Terminator’ theme song appropriately blasting from the speakers.
Like a man on a mission, the charismatic grappler submitted his Slovakian rival Attila Vegh to write the final chapter of a fantastic legacy in the cage. But while his fighting journey is over, he can’t wait to embark on his next exhilarating adventure.
Earlier this year, the phenom released a film about his iconic life. The motion picture documented his days as a bouncer on the UK club circuit, his rise through the ranks in the UFC, his day-to-day life looking after his array of wild animals, including lions and crocodiles, and almost losing his life due to torrid health scares.
However, with his greatest night occurring over the weekend, the desire for a second movie is rife, with Czech fans begging ‘The Terminator’ to put the wheels in motion.
And with his hero breaking into show business when his weightlifting career came to an end, Vemola is hopeful that he can do the same thing.
At the post-fist press conference, he told Sporf: “People ask me about a second film, there could be many films. I’m finishing my fighting career, but I’m not dead. It doesn’t mean I’m not going to be here tomorrow. I follow some big examples like Arnold Schwarzenegger. When he stopped bodybuilding he didn’t die, he started doing movies and politics. I won’t be a politician, but I hope to start doing some big things. There could be movies. Show me the money, and we can film it.”
But before he starts chasing the big bucks on-screen, Vemola must first deal with having a new friend in his home.
Karlos Vemola buys his latest wild animal
When you live in a property with tigers and sharks, you’ve undeniably conquered the worlds of land and sea. Therefore, to really push the boundaries, you need an animal of the sky.
Vemola revealed: “I’ve actually got a six-week-old eagle, which I’ve been waiting for. I didn’t want to take her before the fight because she’s too little; you have to feed her every four hours. I thought that wasn’t fair before the fight. My friend has been looking after her. I was hoping I wouldn’t get too many punches in the head so I can drive to pick her up.
“After I get my cheese and chips, I’m going to go pick up my eagle. She is beautiful and the biggest one in the world. I just haven’t got a name for her. My fans on Instagram can message me and help me pick. She’s amazing. I like big animals. I have lions and crocodiles, but I haven’t got an elephant yet. The bird is as big as it gets, she’s going to be ten kilos.”
Luckily, the MMA superstar didn’t even need his followers to send over ideas, as promoter Ondřej Novotný quickly jumped in to save the day, officially naming the eagle, ‘Gordon’.
