An unbelievable passage of play from Boca Juniors vs River Plate has left many fans comparing it to the often questionable ‘scripting’ debate that plagues FIFA.
The idea behind scripting is simple – a line of game code being used to manipulate a game of FIFA through AI.
It’d certainly explain why we haven’t been able to win a game of FUT for the last two years, but that’s another story for another day.
FIFA madness
Last night Boca and River went toe to toe in a huge Argentine Primera División clash. After a moment of madness from the Boca goalkeeper, River Plate were convinced they’d put the ball in the back of the net.
However, gravity and the pitch had other ideas.
Buckle up, because we haven’t seen anything quite like this before.

How has this not gone in ???

After the ball looped past the keeper it spun hopelessly away from goal with the incoming forward failing to follow up with a tap-in. The game finished 1-1, ensuring that Boca maintained their unbeaten start to the season.
We’ve all seen weird things happen on a football pitch before but this is something else. Sure, a dent in the pitch may lead to a similar occurrence in a Sunday league game, but this is genuinely bizarre.
No matter how many times we watch it, we’re still not sure how that ball doesn’t actually end up in the net.
Our hearts go out to all our FIFA brothers and sisters who may be suffering Weekend League flashbacks courtesy of this footage.
