The muscular star who perfectly embodied the monstrous hammer-wielding Thor looked like the perfect man to bring the wrestler to life. Upon the announcement, the Australian began fiercely training for the role.

He told Total Film as per The Evening Standard: “As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor. There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude. I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world, which I’m really looking forward to doing.”

He intends on spending long periods around the sportsman to develop the skills necessary to deliver the best performance possible.

However, over a year later, fans are still waiting for updates. The cast is under wraps, although we know that Eric Bischoff is an executive producer for the project. As per Netflix Junkie, we’re still waiting for production to begin. This means there’s a long road ahead until we get a release date.

Films often take significantly longer to put together than first expected. They sometimes take upwards of a decade. Plans often change, and the cast seldom remains the same. So, after all this time, fans are concerned whether the 38-year-old actor is still playing the role.

Do Netflix still want Chris Hemsworth to play Hulk Hogan in the wrestler’s biopic?

Luckily for Hemsworth fans, there’s no reason to doubt that the Aussie still has the gig. Although Netflix hasn’t acknowledged the project, Hemsworth’s Instagram indicates that he’s still grafting as hard as ever to get into the same shape as a prime Hogan.

In addition, if there’s one person you don’t want to upset in the making of this film, it’s the wrestler himself. The icon loves the idea of being played by Hemsworth. But he has one small problem.

Hogan tweeted: “He’s already there! He’s ready BROTHER!!! But is he good looking enough to play me? Lol,lol, lol. HH.”

With the movie not coming out for the foreseeable future, fans will have to just enjoy the ride as they watch this project gradually come to life.
