Jack Grealish was officially unveiled by Manchester City yesterday, days after he joined the club from Aston Villa for a British record transfer fee of £100 million.
Grealish left Villa after 15 years with the club, one year after signing a new five-year contract.
The contract contained an £100m release clause, which City triggered in order to complete the signing of the 25-year-old.
He has taken the number 10 shirt left vacant after the departure of Sergio Aguero.
He told City’s official website upon signing: “I am incredibly happy to have joined Manchester City.
“City are the best team in the country with a manager considered to be the best in the world – it’s a dream come true to be part of this club.
“To play for Pep [Guardiola] and learn from him is going to be special and it’s something any top footballer would want.”
Grealish was presented to City fans on Monday at the Etihad Stadium.
A certain angle of the footage broadcast on Sky Sports before the unveiling began, however, showed only a small number of Citizens fans stood outside the entrance to the Colin Bell Stand.
However, one City fan replied several hours later with another photo which appeared to show more fans gathered around the same area to welcome Grealish.
And Manchester Evening News reported that there was an “amass of fans” surrounding the podium which Grealish was due to step on to half an hour later.
After being introduced to those present at the unveiling, Grealish thanked the fans for their support and answered questions during a 10-minute interview.
The 25-year-old made his competitive debut for City on Saturday, coming on as a substitute in their 1-0 defeat to Leicester City in the Community Shield.
Pep Guardiola‘s side kick off their Premier League campaign this weekend when they travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
