Jake Paul now wants to box UFC champion Kamaru Usman

YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul continues to wind up MMA fans by suggesting he could box UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.

Paul, who has quickly become one of the biggest names in combat sports, is coming off the back of an emphatic knockout win over Ben Askren. That victory took his pro boxing record to 3-0 and while many continue to laugh at his level of opposition, Paul himself seems to be doing a good job of getting his name out there.

Kamaru Usman vs Jake Paul?

Recently, the aforementioned Usman spoke up about Paul’s interaction with Daniel Cormier at UFC 261.

“At the end of the day that’s Daniel Cormier, one of the best to do this and Jake Paul needs to put some respect on his name when he speaks about DC,” Usman said. “They’re not even in the same realm, so it’s not something I would even entertain, I wouldn’t allow DC to entertain that. DC sit down, let me take care of that for you, let me take care of that.”

Now, Jake Paul has seemingly indicated that he’d be eager to square off against Usman.

“Challenge accepted. @USMAN84kg if your boss Dana gives you permission to box me and make more money than you ever have, let me know and we can lace them up. I promise it will be your biggest pay day.”

Given the fact Kamaru Usman just knocked out Jorge Masvidal, we’d say there’s a chance “The Problem Child” will go back on his word here.

Usman is a smart man and knows the level of fame Paul has. At the same time, he probably fancies his chances if they ever did step into the ring together.

One thing is for sure – this celebrity boxing trend isn’t going to disappear overnight.

Far from it, actually.
