Junior Firpo touches on the way Leeds’ coaching is better than Barcelona’s

Junior Firpo has spoken about the certain way in which he believes Leeds’ coaching staff are better than Barcelona’s.

The 24-year-old left-back made the switch from the Nou Camp to Elland Road last month for a fee believed to be in the range of €15 million. It’s a move that many Leeds fans hope will be one of the catalysts behind them kicking on towards success in the top flight this season with the Premier League’s top half, in many ways, being as wide open as it has been in a long time.

Will Firpo succeed in Yorkshire?

It came after a two-year stay with the Spanish giants that probably didn’t feature the kind of consistent first-team experience he would’ve been hoping for after joining from Real Betis.

Under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa, though, there are high expectations when it comes to what Firpo can achieve in English football.

During a recent interview, Junior actually provided supporters with an interesting insight into some of the differences between his former club and his new one.

“I’ve been here for two weeks and I’ve already seen more individual videos than in two years at Barça. They explain the way they want you to play and what they want you to do, and that means that they take care of it in detail.”

“In the end, I have been at Barça for two years, there are not many players who have the opportunity to do it. It was an opportunity that maybe came to me a little soon, looking back I should have played for longer at Betis.”

While he did suggest Leeds have been providing him with more in-depth assistance, he also admits he may have gone to Barcelona a bit too soon in his career.

Firpo will hope to feature when Leeds begin their Premier League campaign against Manchester United on Saturday.
