Kai Havertz mocks Bernd Leno after German keeper concedes Chelsea goal

Chelsea star Kai Havertz has mocked German teammate Bernd Leno following their Emirates encounter yesterday.

Back in the summer both Kai Havertz and Bernd Leno were on the same page as they attempted to guide Germany to Euro 2020 glory. Alas, they weren’t quite able to get the job done with the national team falling to England in the Round of 16 at Wembley.

Prior to that, the pair spent a few years together on the books with Bayer Leverkusen and clearly became good friends along the way. Now, however, they are domestic rivals with Havertz playing for the Blues and Leno being the main man in goal for their London enemies Arsenal.

Havertz gets the last laugh

The two collided yesterday with Chelsea beating their adversaries 2-1 on their own home turf, which included Havertz lifting the ball over Leno and into the back of the net.

Opposition players would usually just move on from something like this given that it’s just a pre-season friendly, but that wasn’t the case for Havertz and Leno.

It’s all fun and games right now but once the season actually gets underway we can only imagine how heated things are going to get between these two clubs in the race for the top four. After all, Chelsea just won the Champions League, whereas Arsenal wasn’t even able to qualify for the Europa Conference League.

The supposed “big six” in the top flight of English football is said to feature these two clubs but nobody knows how long that’s going to last. It’s easy to imagine a scenario in which both thrive or both struggle under the weight of the pressure facing them this season, and we won’t have a definitive answer until the big show finally gets back underway.

This rivalry will be renewed once again on August 22 when Arsenal and Chelsea meet in the Premier League.
