Messi, Neymar, Mbappe’s insane PSG contracts revealed

Some stunning findings in French media have revealed the contracts of PSG trio Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar.

French outlet Le Parisien shared the financial details of the Ligue 1 side’s star attackers in fascinating reports. All three players receive incredible amounts of money thanks to their recent negotiations with PSG.

In the case of Kylian Mbappe, his revealed deal puts him as easily the highest-paid player in the world.

Mbappe’s eye-watering deal

The French forward’s current PSG contract will pay him absolutely insane sums. Last summer, Mbappe signed a three-year extension with the Ligue 1 giants to keep him at the club until 2025.

However, this may not be the case. His new deal is actually a two-plus-one contract, where the third year is Mbappe’s decision. So, he could technically still walk away from PSG in 2024. But, if he does this, the Frenchman sacrifices a lot of money.

Le Parisien (via The Mirror) reported that PSG will pay Mbappe €630 million (before tax) if he stays for the full three years of his deal. The forward gets €6 million a month before tax, which goes down to just under €3 million once the state takes its cut.

Additionally, NDTV Sports states that Mbappe’s widely reported signing bonus of €180 million is being paid out in three instalments. Apparently even this isn’t enough, though.

Alongside the bonus and huge wages, the Parisian club also give Mbappe a “loyalty bonus”, per L’Equipe. For staying one season, the French star gets €70 million. If he stays in 2023, Mbappe gets a further €80 million. Finally, if he remains at PSG after the 2024 summer transfer window, Mbappe gets an additional €90 million.

Overall, PSG’s No.7 will make a truly ridiculous amount of money. He is definitely the club’s highest earner – but Messi and Neymar are not too far behind.

Messi and Neymar’s PSG contracts revealed

Le Parisien continued their assault on Paris Saint-Germain’s finances by also revealing both Lionel Messi and Neymar’s deals. In a similar fashion to Mbappe, there are a lot of zeroes on the end of the salaries.

Neymar signed a contract extension with PSG in 2021. Previously, he earned €36 million per year – but Le Parisien confirmed that he has since had a wage cut. The French paper did not reveal his new salary.

In contrast, Lionel Messi pocketed a massive deal at the club when he joined them from Barcelona. Per AS, the Argentine earns €41 million per season on his two-year contract. Interestingly, Messi also receives a percentage of his salary in cryptocurrency.

Messi pays less tax than both Mbappe and Neymar, too. This is because he does not have a tax residency in France. However, Mbappe can offset this loss thanks to his massive signing bonus – something that Messi did not receive from the club.
