Lionel Messi says his ambition is to win the Champions League with PSG

Lionel Messi has reaffirmed his ambition to win the Champions League once again ahead of his new move to Paris-Saint Germain.

Messi spoke about his fresh goals with his new said in a press conference and said he aims to help PSG win their first-ever Champions League after he signed from them a free agent.

“That’s why I am here. It’s an ambitious club,” Messi told a news conference. “You can see they’re ready to fight for everything.

“My dream is to win another Champions League, and I think this is the ideal place to be to do that.”

Messi has not played football since helping Argentina win the Copa America during the summer and admitted he is not sure when he will making his debut for the French side,

“I’m coming back from holiday, I’ve been a month off the pitch,” he added.

“I need a bit of a pre-season and get myself going. Hopefully debuting can be soon but I can’t give you a date. It’s up to the coaches.”

President talk

The president of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, spoke about the future of the club and how their transfer dealings have always fallen in accordance with the regulations and rules laid out.

He also touched on how the signing of Messi – considered the world’s greatest player – will see Mbappe stay at the club.

“He wanted a competitive team and I think we have the most competitive in the world so there is no excuse for him now, he can’t do anything else but stay,” added the president, who defended the club’s spending.

“What you as a media need to focus is not only the negative side but the positive side he will bring to the club.

“We checked with our financial people and knew that we could sign him.

“Through it all we look at Financial Fair Play and always we will fulfil Financial Fair Play regulations.”
