Lyon transfer list multiple key players who have “lack of respect, rudeness and arrogance”

In major news coming out of France, Lyon have reportedly transfer listed several players for what they describe as a “lack of respect, rudeness and arrogance”.

French outlet RMC (via Get French Football News) have reported that the club’s director of sport Juninho and manager Peter Bosz are dealing with attitude problems in the dressing room.

Bosz’s side have picked up one point from their opening two Ligue 1 games.

Amongst those reportedly on the transfer list is influential midfielder Houssem Aouar.

The Frenchman was heavily linked with Arsenal throughout last summer’s transfer window, until the club brought in Thomas Partey on deadline day.

The Athletic have reported that the interest remains this time around – although the Gunners are currently in advanced talks with Real Madrid over the signing of Martin Odegaard.

RMC also report that Brazilian midfielder Thiago Mendes and ex-Leicester striker Islam Slimani could also leave the club.

Maxwel Cornet is also close to a move away from Lyon, with Burnley having launched a bid yesterday and other clubs interested.

Marcelo training with Lyon reserves

The news comes after it was reported yesterday by Foot Mercato (via GFFN) that the club is set to terminate the contract of centre-back Marcelo.

The Brazilian started Lyon’s opening day Ligue 1 clash against Angers, but received a rating of one out of 10 by L’Equipe for his performance in the 3-0 defeat.

Lyon said in a club statement: “Olympique Lyonnais announce that, following the defeat at Angers and discussions with the board and coach Peter Bosz, it has been decided that Marcelo will train, with immediate effect, with the PRO 2 squad (reserves).

“It is made up of many other players under professional contract and managed by Guieda Fofana and Jeremie Brechet, under the direct supervision of Peter Bosz and his staff.

“The inappropriate behaviour of Marcelo in the locker room after the match in Angers justifies this decision, which was taken unanimously by Olympique Lyonnais’ management team.

“The player was briefed on this decision yesterday afternoon by Juninho and Peter Bosz.

“Olympique Lyonnais’ management reiterates that all of its players must demonstrate an unwavering mindset and a commitment to quickly return to recording results in line with the club’s ambitions.”

Lyon are next in league action on Sunday when they host newly-promoted Clermont Foot.
