Manchester United closing in on signing Ruben Neves

Manchester United have set their sights on securing a deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers to bring Ruben Neves to Old Trafford this summer.

As last season came to a close, the Portuguese sensation looked likely to leave Molineux, admitting he wanted to chase pastures new. But to the player’s dismay, his club didn’t receive a bid they deemed worthy of letting him go. Consequently, the fans, who hold Neves in extremely high regard, were delighted to get another campaign out of the playmaker. However, according to SportsMole, it looks like he’s entering into the final few months of his six-year stint in the Midlands.

Since Erik ten Hag’s arrival at The Theatre of Dreams, United have looked a force capable of challenging for the Premier League. However, in a complete juxtaposition, rather than competing for a place at the top of the table that he’ll likely be doing next year, for now, Neves has to fight to save Wolves from relegation.

Currently, the side sits just three points clear of the relegation zone. Therefore, an upcoming grudge match against Nottingham Forest is even more important than usual.

If Wolves manage to survive come the end of the season, the 26-year-old may sign an extension. But in reality, he’s probably heading North.

Manchester United want Ruben Neves

As per Sport, United have already engaged in talks to sign Neves ahead of 2023-24. The report claims the player and his representatives have focused on the switch as a favoured move to Barcelona has fallen through.

Unfortunately for the Portuguese man, Xavi does not view him as an essential addition. But as the Manchester club do, this is probably where he’s heading.

During his time at Wolves, he’s bagged 29 goals and 12 assists in 245 appearances. Thus, he’d undoubtedly slot perfectly into Ten Hag’s starting XI.
