Manchester United fans ambush team sponsor in anti-Glazer protests

Manchester United fans have turned their attention to the club’s new sponsors as their anti-Glazer protests continue.

Over the course of the last few weeks, United supporters have made their intentions very clear – they want the Glazer family to sell the club.

It comes in the aftermath of the European Super League’s collapse. However, this was a relationship laden with trouble way before this latest development.

Demonstrations at the weekend led to United’s fixture with Liverpool being postponed, as protestors managed to make their way onto the pitch at Old Trafford, with another group gathering at the team hotel.

Now, as per The Times, fans have also penned a letter to commercial partners of Manchester United Football Club, warning them of their impending boycott.

“As commercial partners of the Glazer family you are legitimate targets of the global fanbase because the combined £279million per annum you pay will not go towards investment in the squad to compete with the best clubs that United now trail,” the letter says.

“It will not go towards refurbishing Old Trafford or training facilities, both now so outdated they have become a symbol for Glazer disinterest.

“To that end, Manchester United fans will boycott your products, seeks to tarnish your brands and support your competitors until you terminate your commercial partnership with the Glazer family.”

The worst-hit company appears to be United’s new principal shirt sponsor TeamViewer, who have been targeted with a parade of negative online reviews.

The latest protests are the latest in a long line against the Glazer family, who took over the club in controversial fashion in 2005 to widespread fury among fans, with their arrival sparking the creation of a breakaway splinter club, F.C. United of Manchester.
