Sabitzer hit one of the best long-range goals you’ll see over the weekend

RB Leipzig sensation Marcel Sabitzer made a statement this weekend with an incredible long-range strike in the Bundesliga.

Sabitzer joined the club back in 2014 and has been building his reputation as one to watch ever since. Still, even his biggest supporters would’ve been left open-jawed by this beauty.

Man of the moment

The 26-year-old Austrian is one of the most talked-about stars outside of the English Premier League right now. In Leipzig’s clash against Hertha Berlin on Sunday, all of that talk was backed up by a sublime hit from all of 30-yards out.

Hertha’s number 29, Lucas Tousart, sat back and enjoyed the view as the ball rocketed into the top corner. The defeat leaves Berlin outside of the relegation zone only on goal difference.

The goal came in the 28th minute of a game which was looking pretty even heading into the half-hour mark. However the midfielder set Leipzig on their way to a 3-0 win that included goals from Nordi Mukiele and Willi Orban.

Sabitzer’s dipping effort will go some way in explaining the rumours linking him with a move away from the Bundesliga, with Tottenham reportedly interested in securing his services.

With Bayern Munich losing on Saturday, this could be a huge moment for their title aspirations. Leipzig’s next outing in the league sees them host Borussia Monchengladbach in Saturday’s late kickoff.

Looking ahead

While Saturday’s game may be a priority for some, Nagelsmann will have one eye on the return UEFA Champions League leg against Liverpool.

Last season’s UCL semi-finalists couldn’t overcome Jurgen Klopp’s men in a disjointed first leg effort in Budapest.

Leizpig may enter that game with a 2-0 deficit, but they do so against a Reds side severely lacking in confidence.

If there’s going to be a hero of the day on March 10, though, it may just be Sabitzer.
