Mbappé was so quick for PSG’s first goal, the footage looks sped up

Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring for PSG against bitter rivals Marseille last night, displaying a staggering turn of pace on the counter-attack.

It’s hardly a revelation that Mbappé is quick, though the blistering speed he showed in ‘Le Classique’ was frightening even by his incredibly high standards.

The move actually started with a Marseille corner, however PSG put on a masterclass in catching their opposition out on the break in the ninth minute.

Beginning the move on his own six-yard box, Mbappé starts to sprint forward as Ángel Di María carries the ball towards the halfway line, finding the Frenchman with a perfect pass and leaving Marseille with no chance of catching him.

Once he hits full stride, the footage hardly even looks real, as the attacker proved just how devastating he can be.

The effort came in the 22-year-old’s 150th appearance for PSG, and marked his 18th of the season.

PSG went on to win the game 2-0, with Mauro Icardi adding to the tally. Marseille’s Dimitri Payet was also shown a red card in the 90th minute for an awful challenge on Marco Verratti.

The French champions now sit third on the table, three points off leaders Lille and just one behind second-placed Lyon.
