Neymar names nine players who would make his perfect footballer

Neymar has named the players that would make up his perfect footballer.

He was speaking ahead of the return of Red Bull Neymar Jr’s Five – a five-a-side tournament which is returning for its fifth edition this year.

The tournament is open to 18-34-year-olds, with a series of qualifying rounds taking place to determine the entrants into the World Final.

The UK edition takes place in London on June 6. Teams can enter via the Red Bull website.

In an event Q&A before the event commences, the Paris Saint-Germain forward spoke about a range of topics, including who would make up his complete footballer.

The Brazilian selected two current team-mates, with midfielder Marco Verratti and Kylian Mbappe included for their creative ability and speed respectively.

He selected both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, as well as several others.

He also included his own right foot as part of his perfect player.

Neymar explained: “Oh man… the perfect player?! [Should I consider myself or not?] I can consider myself, good.

“I think the physicality of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic’s elasticity, the heading game of Sergio Ramos, Mbappe’s speed, left leg of Messi, my right foot, Lewandowski’s positioning, the tackling of Kante and the creation in the middle field of Verratti.”

Neymar was also asked what he plans to achieve in 2021.

With PSG having secured Champions League football for another season, and with an Olympic Games tournament on the horizon, the Brazilian wants to win every competition he is involved in.

He explained: “My plans for this year are to win every competition that I’ll take part in.

“I’m not sure if I will be playing the Olympics, but I know I love to win and I want to play as many competitions as possible. Let’s see what happens…”

Neymar and PSG are in action on Sunday against Brest in the final game of the Ligue 1 season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently sit in second place, with league leaders Lille a point ahead of them.

Lille travel to Angers for their final fixture of the season.
