Neymar’s individual highlights vs Bayern are seriously special

Neymar put in a superb performance on Tuesday night to help Paris Saint-Germain through to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Although the French side lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich on the night in the Parcs Des Princes, they went through via away goals after winning 3-2 in the first leg.

PSG were excellent defensively, solid in the tackle and were able to break on the counter regularly with lethal precision, although they didn’t score.

Keylor Navas made several crucial saves, whilst midfielders Leandro Paredes and Idrissa Gueye covered almost every blade of grass in the stadium.

Angel di Maria put in a typically majestic performance, whilst Kylian Mbappe kept the Bayern defenders on their toes all night.

But it was the performance of Neymar in particular that most caught the attention.

Neymar’s world-class display

The Brazilian superstar was outstanding over the 90 minutes, and on another night could easily have had a hat-trick.

He hit both the crossbar and the post, and was agonisingly inches away from diverting Angel di Maria’s cross over the line from yards out.

His close-range effort from Mbappe’s cutback was also excellently saved by the feet of Bayern ‘keeper Manuel Neuer.

The 29-year-old’s link-up play with Mbappe and Di Maria was almost telepathic. He consistently caused the Bayern defence problems with his runs in behind, quick feet and mazy dribbling.

It was a display of the highest quality, and one that unsurprisingly earned him the Man of the Match award, despite PSG losing the match.

PSG will face either Manchester City or Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League semi-finals. The first leg will take place on April 26.

Neymar will miss one of the intervening Ligue 1 games as he serves the last game of a two-match league suspension, although will return for his side’s Coupe de France quarter-final against Angers on April 21.
