EXCLUSIVE: Paddy Pimblett is extremely confident he has what it takes to beat Ilia Topuria.
The Liverpudlian is closing in on a showdown with ‘El Matador’.
Paddy Pimblett says he’d destroy Ilia Topuria
Blessed with ferocious power, Ilia Topuria has quickly cemented his status as one of the most dangerous competitors to have ever walked the face of the Earth. However, in a testament to his unrelenting self-belief, Paddy Pimblett is adamant that he wouldn’t just beat the Spanish-Georgian but dominate him in every single area of the fight.
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, Pimblett claimed: “I’d absolutely smash his face in for him. I can see myself beating him anywhere the fight goes to be honest. People have put him on a pedestal now, they think he’s this big amazing thing, but I’ll bring him crashing back down to Earth in a big way.”
Paddy Pimblett is encouraging men to talk about mental health
Having solidified his place amongst the biggest names in combat sports, Pimblett is using his platform to give back.
Last week, the warrior travelled to The Hive Youth Zone in Wirral, UK, to give the kids an introduction to mixed martial arts in a bid to help them to stay on the right path.
He enthused: “I used to go to a youth club myself in Huyton, and we’d be in there all the time. Luckily enough, we had that. Otherwise, we would’ve been out doing stupid stuff like throwing eggs at windows and drinking alcohol when we weren’t allowed. So, the fact that we had the youth club was a big thing. We could go and play football or play on the computers. These kids at this centre have everything under one roof; they don’t need anything else.”
In addition, the fighter, who’s a massive ambassador for men’s mental health, stressed the importance of sharing your feelings.
The 30-year-old explained: “Women will sit, have a cup of tea, and have a chat for about four hours and just keep talking and talking. Men just won’t; they’ll keep it bottled up, because they think, ‘If I say that to him, he’ll think I’m weak’. That’s the toxic masculinity we need to get rid of. We need to get that stigma away.”
